One of the requirements for applicants to this program is to prove that they know German at least at A1 level.
A1 level of foreign language knowledge enables the person to introduce himself, to give simple information about the place where he lives, to understand the people in front of him when giving similar information, and to understand the other person at a basic level when talking about slow and simple topics.
The A1 certificate can be obtained after the examinations conducted by the Goethe-Institut and the ÖSD.
